2018 OTR Hoops Showcase All 2nd Team
Norcross, Georgia – The 2018 On the Radar Hoops Showcase hosted by Shun Williams tipped off this past Saturday and what an amazing turn out it was. Some of Georgia’s best programs and best players met for one day of all day good hoops. Below you will find which players made the all second team showcase list.
2019 PG Jalen Harper – Pebblebrook High School
Jalen Harper showed the world why he is one of the most underrated and non-talked about prospect in the state of Georgia in his class. Harper led his young and injured Pebblebrook squad to a victory in Saturday’s showcase over Cedar Shoals and finishing with 21 points. Jalen is the younger brother of NBA prospect and Auburn point guard Jared Harper and brings that toughness just like his brother did. He is a such a tough and smart guard. Jalen is able to play off ball and is able to make plays with the ball in his hand. Sitting at 6-foot-2, he is able to drive to the rim and finishing through contact is never a problem for Jalen.
2020 PG Eric Graines – Lithonia High School
The 6-foot-1 point guard Eric Graines had a great outing at the On the Radar Hoops Showcase on Saturday. He is an electrifying guard who is able to read and react to what the defense gives him. Eric is a very thin point guard who holds great athleticism and is also very bouncy. Graines was able to show off his bounce in his team’s lost to Sandy Creek by giving the crowd a few unexpected dunks. The junior point guard finished the contest with 23 points. Eric had a solid summer this past year with Atlanta Xpress in the UAA and will have an interesting outing next spring and summer and should draw some attention from college coaches and scouts.
2019 PG Brenden Tucker – Dacula High School
One of the most highly comepetitve prospects I have covered over the last couple of years is College of Charleston commit Brenden Tucker. The senior combo guard did what he did best in Saturday’s showcase and that was using his explosiveness getting to the basket. Tucker finished with 22 points while racking up 5 steals. Yes 5 clean steals. He is a very passionate basketball player and is very engaged on defense. He has extreme athleticism and that also shows when he is in transition or in the half court. Brenden is able to draw contact when he attacks the rim and is a determined driver.
2020 W Brandon Boston Jr. – Norcross High School
It was the season opener for Brandon Boston Jr. and his Norcross squad in Saturday’s On the Radar Hoops Showcase as they fell to Wheeler High School in an upset. Besides their 62-55 lost, BJ was able to still able to put his talents on display and to show why he was one of the top players in the country. The 6-foot-7 wing finished the game with 17 points. Boston was able to get his buckets mostly in transition and while cutting and slashing to the rim. He has always been known for his slashing and moving with out the ball skills. With his height, he was also able to come off ball screens and connect on his pull up mid range jump shots.
2020 F Colin Granger – Lambert High School
The 6-foot-8 forward Colin Granger has great upside. As I watched him in Saturday’s showcase for the first time since the summer circuit, one thing I can say is that he will have a great career in the game of basketball if he contiunes to get better. The junior forward is a very mobile forward with quick feet at his size. Colin has great hands and is active on the glass. He is a versatile forward who can play the three, four, and five position for his team. Granger is also a solid defender and he was battle tested in Lambert’s win over Woodward Academy as he was matched up with one of the nations top players in his class in 7-foot-0 Walker Kessler. Colin finished with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
2020 C Walker Kessler – Woodward Academy
The 7-foot-0 center Walker Kessler is one of the top players in the country in his class. After finishing with 25 points, most of those coming in the second half, Kessler put spectators on notice and showed why he is one of the best players nationwide. At his size, Walker did what most players his size cannot do. He has a sweet looking release and I am not talking about when he is inside the paint. He can be known as a stretch big due to the fact he is able to make shots from beyond the arc. Kessler is a huge threat inside and has nice footwork around the rim.
