2018 OTR Hoops Showcase All 1st Team
Norcross, Georgia – The 2018 On the Radar Hoops Showcase hosted by Shun Williams tipped off this past Saturday and what an amazing turn out it was. Some of Georgia’s best programs and best players met for one day of all day good hoops. Below you will find which players made the all first team showcase list.
2019 F TJ Bickerstaff (MVP) – Sandy Creek High School
The 6-foot-7 forward Drexel commit TJ Bickerstaff was certainly and arguably the most valuable player at Saturday’s showcase. Bickerstaff finished his contest against Lithonia with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and while making the game winning layup to get the Patriots their win. He has nice versatility and it showed throughout the game all day on Saturday. TJ showed us he can score inside and from the three point mark. He also a solid rebounder, as you can see, and is just a tough hard nosed player when he is on the floor. Drexel is getting them a good one in Mr. Bickerstaff.
2020 PG Devion Smith – Grayson High School
One of Georgia’s emerging prospects in junior point guard Devion Smith, showed us why he deserves more attention. Coming into this one, Smith was averaging 15 points per game while averaging 10 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-2 point guard finished his match against Dacula with a 22 point and 9 rebound performance. What seperates Devion from other top point guards in the state? His athleticism he holds. Smith is crazy athletic and by the looks of him, you would not think he can even dunk. He athletic abilities are just a bonus to his game. He could now be considered as an elite point guard who is able to facilitate and score in bunches. Devion had a faboulous outing on Saturday and is now led Grayson to a 4-0 start.
2020 SG Toneari Lane – Shiloh High School
Toneari Lane put his talents on display early in the showcase as Shiloh defeated back-to-back class 6A GHSA state champions in Langston Hughes. The 6-foot-5 two-guard finished with a game high 21 points and 5 rebounds. Toneari is a such a smart player and does what he does best. And what is that you may ask? Being that great inside scorer he is. 18 of Lane’s points came from inside the paint or at the free throw line. He is a strong guard who is able to post his defenders up and go to work. He can also be effective on the glass and that is just another skill that make him the player that he is.
2019 G/F James Glisson III – Southwest Dekalb High School
The 6-foot-6 guad/forward James Glisson III had a hell of a performance Saturday afternoon against Discovery. With Miller Grove High School transfers 2019 guard Maurice Harvey and 2020 wing Terrence Edwards out the game, Glisson III was able to do more than usual. The senior dropped a nice 27 points in Southwest Dekalb’s lost to Discovery. He is a big-bodied guard/forward who was able to use his body to create space in the lane and to get his shot off. James is a solid shot maker with a sweet stroke. Even though his squad lost in overtime, Glisson III had a positive impact and is one of Georgia’s sleepers. His two lone offers are from Wofford and Presbyterian.
2020 SG Luke Champion – Lambert High School
Another kid in Georgia’s 2020 class here is Luke Champion. The 6-foot-6 sharpshooter started the game hot and set it off for Lambert by going 4 for 4 from three in the first half. Luke ended up finishing the game with a team high 22 points. He is arguably the best shooter in the peach state right now. Champion has a quick release with a high jumper and is able to catch and shoot or run off screens. His height and long arms also helps him shoot over the smaller defenders.
2020 PG KD Johnson – Southwest Dekalb High School
It took awhile for KD to get going offensively for Southwest Dekalb in their overtime lost to Discovery, but in the second half and overtime, KD was being KD. Johnson only finished the game with 16 points but did it in tremondous fashion. You cannot go a game without watching Johnson be super competitive on both ends of the floor. Time and time again he has stoodout with energy and passion for the game. He is a pitbull defender who loves to play defense and offensively he gets from end to end somewhat like a DeAaron Fox. Johnson is terrific in the open floor and it showed on Saturday.
