Atlanta, Georgia – The 5th Annual 2018 Holiday Hoopsgiving Showcase was a success and once again featuring some of the top prospects around the state and also around the country. This year’s event setting was fantastic and looked absolutely amazing. Two days full of hoops non-stop and it was certainly worth it. There was a plethora of talent on hand along with plenty of college coaches in attendance as well. Below you will find out who stood out in this year’s event.
Note: Part 2 of 3
2021 SG Garrison Powell – Holy Innocents School
Emerging sophomore prospect Garrison Powell had a decent showing this past weekend playing fot the host school Holy Innocents. Alongside his teammate Chance Moore, Garrison was able to show his scoring abilities and why he will be having college coaches and scouts around him come spring/summer time. Powell sits at a legit 6-foot-3 and holds a nice body frame for a kid his age. He was able to utilize his size when making his way towards the rim and showed off his jump shots in both games by hitting a couple threes. He has a nice release and was able to connect on contested jumpers.
2019 PG Jalen Benjamin – Meadowcreek High School
How can you not love to watch this kid UAB commit Jalen Benjamin play? Jalen is a dynamic under 6-foot point guard and is able to score in bunches and that is exactly what he proved at this year’s Holiday Hoopsgiving. The 5-foot-10 floor general averaged 25.5 points per game in his two days in the event. He is an elite shooter of the catch and holds a nice release off the dribble. Benjamin could get hot quick and is an electric scorer at the point guard position.
2020 PG AJ Hoggard – Hunington Prep (WV)
One the top prospects in the class of 2020, AJ Hoggard, put his talents on display at the Holiday Hoopsgiving this past weekend. Hoggard is 6-foot-4 with a big body at the guard position. He was able to use his big body frame at times when finishing at the rim and drawing contact. AJ was able to play downhill and show he can connect on his jump shots as well at times. The junior guard averaged 15.5 points per game in his two days at the event.
2019 PG Hunter McIntosh – Greater Atlanta Christian
One of the top unsigned seniors in the peach state is without a doubt Hunter McIntosh of Greater Atlatna Christian. The 6-foot-2 point guard filled the stat sheet in GAC’s lone game at the Holiday Hoopsgiving finishing with 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in a lost to Wheeler High School. McIntosh was able to showcase his talents in front of plenty of college coaches who were in attendance. He is a strong solid all around point guard who can be a factor on both ends. He is a shot maker and as you can see a solid rebounder for a point guard.
2020 SG Dudley Blackwell – Somerset Pines (FL)
Dudley Blackwell surprised most of us at the Holiday Hoopsgiving and what a prospect he is. Sitting a 6-foot-6, Blackwell holds elite athleticism and is active on both ends of the floor. He finished with 22 points and 8 rebounds in Somerset’s last game against Lincoln Academy. He is a strong two-guard who is able to score in all levels on the floor. Dudley was able to take his man off the dribble and finish at the rim and also hit a few shots from the beyond the arc.
