Wild October Recruiting Weekend
James Wiseman (#1 prospect in Tennessee) visited the University of Memphis and donned a stuffed unicorn yet. And it only got weirder from there.
Wiseman’s AAU-teammate DJ Jeffries (Olive Branch, MS) verbally committed to University of Memphis. Until July he was committed to Kentucky.
After canceling three-four official visits (Louisville, Tennessee, Florida, Illinois), Hamilton Heights Christian Academy/Woodz Elite 17u Jason Jitoboh opened up his recruitment completely. The Class of 2019 center scheduled and took his first official visit. University of Central Florida, aka UCF played host to Jitoboh.
The electric, diminutive scorer Mark Freeman (Southwind graduate) verbally committed to Tennessee State University from his Georgia prep school.
Time to stop burying the lede.

Dominican-born Bayron Matos (Hamilton Heights Christian Academy) picked Mississippi State during his official visit. Only a junior, the #3 player in Tennessee, already held offers from Illinois, Florida, Dayton, Cal-State Northridge, Fresno State, Pacific, and Auburn despite playing less than a month of high school basketball in the United States.
Matos’ high school teammate Andrew Williams took a visit to Chattanooga. HHCA junior Andersson Garcia took an unofficial visit to Tennessee State University. They have offered Garcia.
Emory Lanier (Knoxville Webb) and Jacobi Wood (Cleveland) attended Wofford Junior Day Saturday.
Keon Johnson, coming off official visits to Auburn and Tennessee, pushed back his Virginia official to November 10-12.
Elijah Cobb (Riverdale) watched Florida College play in person at Welch College outside Nashville.
