WCAC Preview: 2019 Sleepers
In preparation for the upcoming season, we will begin releasing preview content covering various teams and leagues around the DMV. For this series, we’re taking a look at a few seniors we believe continue to be slept on. This edition covers the WCAC Conference.
ANWAR GILL | 6’4 CG | GONZAGA
Anwar Gill remains one of the DMV’s most versatile and productive guards still on the board, and should build off what was a strong junior season. Over the summer, Gill has worked hard to improve his perimeter jump shot, and we should see evidence of this throughout the year.
JACK KOUBA | 6’0 SG | BISHOP IRETON
Jack Kouba is pound-for-pound one of the toughest guards you will find in the DMV. As Bishop Ireton’s most tenacious on-ball defender, Kouba will draw the opposing team’s toughest matchup this season, and we don’t expect him to back down.
JOSH WALLACE | 6’0 PG | DEMATHA
Many schools would love to have a point guard like Josh Wallace, and it’s quite a luxury for DeMatha to be able to bring him off the bench. A tone-setter with pesky on-ball defense, Wallace is a reliable facilitator and a capable scorer.
CHARLIE WEBER | 6’9 PF | BISHOP O’CONNELL
Charlie Weber will have the chance to be one of the more productive bigs in the WCAC this season. At his size, Weber is a proficient scoring threat who can also impact the game with his relentless motor and rebounding ability.
JAHMIR YOUNG | 6’1 PG | DEMATHA
As the starting point guard for DeMatha Jahmir Young has done a good job facilitating offense and scoring efficiently while steadily improving his defense. Young had a great offseason, and his confidence continues to grow. We expect him to close out his high school career on a strong note.
