Atlana, GA – Every year here in the metro Atlanta area we seem to have some very exciting and killer matchups. Whether it is a region, rivalry, showcase, or tournament matchup, the metro Atlanta area is known for some top and “can’t forget” type games. This year before the season begins I have decided to rank the top 20 must see matchups this season in the metro Atlanta area, below you can check out the 6-10 matchups.

6. Our Saviour (NY) @ Lincoln Academy (Fri. Jan. 25th)– Lincoln Academy will play host to one of New York’s best high school basketball programs. Our Saviour (NY) features one of the top prospects in the nation in 2020 PG Posh Alexander. They also feature an under the radar prospect in 2019 PG DaShawn Davis, who has multiple D1 offers. Lincoln Academy will already be playing a tough schedule, so this game adds to their road to the Geico Nationals that’s held in New York every April for the best high school programs in the nation.

7. Tournament of Champions Tournament (Dec. 26-29th)– The 3rd Annual Tournament of Champions Tournament will be once again hosted at the famous Wheeler High School located in Marietta, Georgia. This tournament is always good for some of Georgia’s top programs and also regional programs in the southeast. The tournament splits into two divisions, the National Division and the American Division. Both divisions will be loaded with top prospects and sleeper prospects. This year’s schools include Wheeler, Meadowcreek, Grayson, St. Francis, Southwest Dekalb, John Marshall (VA), Lakewood (SC), Langston Hughes, Johnson-Savannah, Miller Grove, Shiloh, Bishop Snyder (FL), Blanche Ely (FL), and more.

8. Lincoln Academy @ Holy Spirit (Fri. Nov. 16th) – This season the 2nd year program Lincoln Academy will take their talented roster to Holy Spirit, a program that holds one of the top players in the country in 2020 SG Anthony Edwards. These two schools are expected to meet on Friday November 16th. The Bulldogs of Lincoln Academy also hold one of Georgia’s and the nations most talented prospect in 2019 W Elias King. Elias was both once a Georgia commit and Xavier commit and has re-opened his recruitment right before his senior campaign. The matchup b/w Elias King and Anthony Edwards and others should make this matchup a packed house at the Cougars home.

9. Meadowcreek-Norcross region games (Mon. Dec. 10th & Fri. Feb. 1st)– I would not necessarily call this one a rivalry just yet, but this seasons matchups should be as good as last year’s. Norcross and Meadowcreek met four times last season, twice during their region meetings, once in their region title game, and in Georgia’s class 7A state championship game. The Blue Devils defeated Meadowcreek 3 out of their 4 meetings last season and where Meadowcreek took home their first ever basketball state championship after defeating Norcross. Both programs are bringing in state championship caliber rosters this season, which means both meetings will be very important. With the region these two programs play in, it is without question that they will both meet once again for the third time in the region title game.

10. South Shore (NY) v. Meadowcreek (Fri. Nov. 23rd)– Another matchup I think standouts in the loaded 5th Annual Holiday Hoopsgiving will be this matchup right here. South Shore out of Brooklyn, New York, has been one of the best high school programs in the state of New York for years. The Vikings will bring their NY city toughness to the peach state and where they will face Georgia’s defending class 7A champions in Meadowcreek. Meadowcreek, who have reloaded their roster for this season, will be looking to protect their home state against the national competition during the event as they also face Wasatch Academy out of Utah.
