The Second Annual Elite 8 Fall Preview at Monterey Trail HS Part II
The Second Annual Elite 8 Fall Preview held at Monterey Trail HS in Elk Grove CA. This event was held on October 1st. Here are my final thoughts on this event that featured top prospects and their respective schools from Sacramento and San Joaquin Sections of NorCal.
Solano Hurricanes (Vanden). Jhaylon Martinez 6’10 2020 PF/C. A lot is riding on one of NorCal’s top ranked prospects. Martinez continues to expand his game. Most of his work was from the high post area where he seemed to be more effective with his mid-range jumper at this event, he continues to attract a lot of attention in the low post area. If Vanden is going to make any noise this season Teiano Hardee 6’4 F/W 2020 and Ra’shon Martinez 6’2 Guard 2020 are going to have to step up their respective games. Teiano is a strong physical looking prospect who attacks the rim really well from the baseline. R Martinez has been working hard to come out of the shadows of big bro to prove he can ball too. He has good handles, passes well, has a mid range and can knock down the 3pt shot. A good defender.
Stockton Cougars (Weston Ranch). I’ve said this before, Weston Ranch is a fun team to watch, they’re a scrappy group that likes to get the ball up the court. They have three solid players Gavin Wilburn 6’3 Pt Guard 2020. A solid prospect, strength and size to go with handles makes him hard to stop, he can score in a variety of ways for this team. Devin Small 6’1 Guard 2020 A player who can create his own offense as well and is a pretty good on ball defender. Donjae’ Lindsey 6’0 2021 Pg. Fits well with this group, can have a break out season as an up and comer in the 2021 class.
CCS (Capital Christian). Kendall Munson 6’7 W/F 2020. A physical prospect who can score inside, has a nice mid-range game, can rebound and lead the break with his handles. He offers an inside presence for this team that also has up and coming floor leader Caden Flowers 5’10 2021 Pt Guard and Preston Hall 6’3 W 2019. A sharp shooter and Evan Johnson 6’4 W 2020 A long armed prospect who continues to improve.
Twin Cities (Liberty Ranch) Jalen Patterson 6’1 Guard 2020 The sharp shooter at times looked like he was going to take over the game, he can score from any where on the court, a good passer. Keep an eye on this prospect. Josh Seiler 6’3 W 2021. The lefty didn’t back down, he has nice hops to go with a pull-up jumper.
Montery Trail (Trail Blazers) Bryce Fitzgerald 6’8 W/F has a good inside out game. Good rebounder.
