In this series we take a look at the potential candidates for Mr. Basketball in the state of Illinois for this upcoming season.  Here we profile Simeon senior point guard Kejuan Clements.

Profile:

Clements is a combo guard from one of the state’s premier programs in Simeon.  He is your classic tough and gritty Chicago scoring point guard.  Loves to attack downhill and can hit from mid-range on occasion.  Started off solid on the travel team circuit, but missed the majority of the spring/summer with an injury.

Odds to Win:

35/1

Why He Can Win:

When you are the top dog at Simeon most of the time you are going to be in the mix here.  He will have chances to impress in big games this season beginning at the Chicago Elite Classic and continuing with big games across the state.  If he can prove to be the leader and top player while elevating the play of a young Simeon team he could put himself in the conversation.

Obstacles to Win:

First and foremost he needs to reestablish his momentum as one of the top players in the city after his injury this summer.  Out of sight, out of mind.  The second is how good will the Wolverines be?  After last year where they were the best team in Illinois for the majority of the season this year will be different.  Young squad will surround Clements.  Can he bring them along to rack up wins?
