Summerfield Fall League: Saturday Notes
I stopped by Tampa Catholic on Saturday to take in some Summerfield Fall League games.
Here is a look at some top players by team.
Admiral Farragut
—2019 guard Winston Dessesow was on point with his outside shooting. He has a dangerous 3-point jumper. His passing and high IQ transition play is a big benefit to his team.
—2020 John Ojiako is a menace on the boards. At 6’10”, the junior has an offer from Kansas State and currently and you can see the potential with his inside presence and slashing ability. Ojiako is a reliable shot blocker.
—Lorenzo Donadio can really ball. The 2020 Italian guard is super active inside, especially on the break. He was often cutting to the hoop and hustling on the glass. Donadio is a good ballhandler and displayed a nice outside touch.
Tampa Catholic
—2020 guard Kobe Knox is the purest scorer on Tampa Catholic. Knox never stops firing and creating. His shot was inconsistent but he was hustling on the break often.
—2020 forward Isaiah Elmore showed off his shot blocking and improved outside shot often. Elmore was involved plenty as a ballhandler as well.
Calvary Christian
—2020 forward Joshua Berenbaum is the clear-cut leader for Calvary Christian. He boxes out with ease and has a shooter’s touch.
—Calvary Christian has a freshman who has a chance to really grow in Myles Grant. He’s a bit unsure, but he has endless athleticism and basketball smarts already for a 2022 prospect.
Wharton
—2019 guard Darin Green Jr. was back at it with his 3-point shooting. He hit a corner triple from the start against Anclote and continued to pace the floor.
—2020 guard Carr Thiam had his shot falling and was really attacking in transition. Thiam is a nice counterpart to Green Jr. in this offense.
Anclote
—2020 forward Jakob Hester is the leader for his side. He can mix it up from the mid-range and get to the rim with his fundamental moves. Hester is a consistent player.
