Subtle Changes: Ohio 2021 Rankings Update
In the spirit of everything being up to date at the start of the high school season, we have rolled out another 2021 Rankings Update. Unlike the upperclassmen updates, this is our second update since the July Live Period for 2021.
So, what has changed? Truthfully, not much. But, as is always the case when a class is young, we’re constantly learning of new players in the class. Also, a couple showcases, more information from sources, and Baller TV provided more insight since our mid-August update.
As always, you can expect analysis on the changes, although subtle, over the next couple days by way of Stock-Riser and Newcomer articles. Then, we will do a wrap-around across the state to look at the various impact sophomores in each respective region of Ohio.
Immediately, though, you’ll notice one new addition into the top five. Kalen Etzler, a 6’8″ versatile forward from Convoy Crestview, has jumped from no. 10 to no. 3. He was the MVP of the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo, where it became clear that we had been too low on Etzler beforehand. His combination of defensive switchability, offensive feel, and skill-set is rare.
Since the Expo, Crestview has been frequented by Purdue. Also, Etzler and the Ohio State coaching staff have traded visits to and from rural Northwest Ohio and Columbus. And, look, it just appears clear that Etzler will wind up at that level of basketball after high school.
