Senior Breakout Candidate: Tyler Kramer
There is a lot of untapped talent in the 2019 class this year, therefore from now until the beginning of the season I will be highlighting one senior each day who has the potential to breakout. Some will have no offers or interest and some will have a few offers but should expect to see more as the year progresses. First up is Tyler Kramer.
Southwestern (Hanover) had a stellar season last year going 24-3 and made an appearance in the first round of regionals. After a sectional title, their hopes fell short to Austin, a team that they had previously beaten earlier in the year. A lot of the success that they saw last year can be attributed to Tyler Kramer. The 6′ point guard has a knack for scoring the ball and put up 22.0 points a game a year ago.
Kramer has a knack for knocking down jumpers and his range stretches far beyond the three-point line. He struggled with consistency beyond the arc last year but still ended up shooting 46% from the floor as the premier scorer on the floor at all times. This summer he worked on his defense and getting stronger. He is an offensive threat but is working toward being able to shut down the best player on the opposing team as well.
Kramer is a great rebounder from the guard position and will look to turn and push the ball up the floor. He knows where his teammates should be and is always working to facilitate the offense if he isn’t in a spot to score. Kramer has a very high basketball IQ and knows how to get in the passing lanes on the defensive side of the ball.
He has generated a little bit of college interest as he took a visit to Goshen last year and Mount Saint Joseph a few weeks ago. Kramer is planning to take a visit to Aurora in the spring. As the season progresses there should be an uptick in interest in Kramer. With his scoring ability, pretty much every D3 school in the state should be looking at Kramer. He is a potent scorer and should be able to find a home in the state. He’s currently looking to major in sports management or physical education.
Kramer will look to lead his team to a 2A state title this year. Since the race is wide open, there is no reason to think that Southwestern (Hanover) can’t make it to Indianapolis. As he continues to work on his game this year, expect more colleges to come and watch him play. He’s a great scorer and is making all the strides necessary to become a player that a school at the next level would love to have.
