San Diego High School Showcase – All-Showcase Team
Corky Smith Gym in San Marcos was abuzz last weekend for the two-day San Diego High School Showcase.
Organized by Gamepoint Basketball, the field included some of San Diego’s top programs and several of the top teams from the City and Southern sections.
Who were the top performers from the weekend. I give you some names as I unveil my All-Showcase Team.
All San Diego High School Showcase Team
Isaiah Mobley, 6-9 2019 F, Rancho Christian
Dazzled in the two games his team played, including one of the more dominant performances you’ll see live in a drubbing of Torrey Pines.
Mojus Mojus, 6-3 2019 G, Balboa School
Tremendous two-way effort for the prep school, which went undefeated on the weekend. Scored from all three levels and defended the opponent’s top perimeter player.
Malcolm Little, 6-3 2019 G, Balboa School
Mojus’ back court mate had several big scoring games, exploding in the second half against Foothills Christian
Robert McRae, 6-4 2019 W, Fairfax
Lions went 3-1 this weekend and McRae was at the heart of the effort with his defense, rebounding and timely scoring.
Max Agbonkpolo, 6-8 2010 W, Santa Margarita
Do-it-all 6-8 wing was a matchup nightmare all weekend, playing point forward for the shorthanded Eagles.
Derrick Carter-Hollinger, 6-6 2019 W, Foothills Christian
Whenever the Knights needed a key bucket, rebound or defensive stop, Carter-Hollinger provided it.
Ryan Langborg, 6-4 2019 G, La Jolla Country Day
His team struggled (1-3), but Langborg was electric for long stretches displaying all facets of his scoring repertoire.
Garrett Schaefer, 6-3 2020 G, Temecula Valley
Underrated statewide, Schaefer was the catalyst to the Golden Bears undefeated Saturday by setting the table for his senior teammates.
Chris Howell, 6-6 2021 PG, San Marcos
The 6-6 point guard was a walking mismatch, impacting the game without having to score prolifically en route to the Knights 4-0 weekend.
Makiah Morris, 6-2 2019 G, Vista
Opened the weekend with a 29-point effort in an OT win over Mater Dei Catholic and rolled from there.
Jordan Hilstock, 6-3 2019 G, Vista
Was spectacular in closing the victory over Mater Dei Catholic, and steady the entire weekend on both ends of the court.
