Region 7 – AAAAA Players to Watch
Prep Hoops starts its journey around the Palmetto State. Official practices begin next week and the high school football regular season ends on November 2. Lets take a look at Region 7-AAAAA in the Lowcountry.
The Berkeley HS Stags will be the favorite to win the region this season under the senior trio of Ishan White, Trevur Smalls and Cameron Fordham. The Stags located in Moncks Corner lost in the 3rd Round of the SCHSL State Playoffs to Wilson HS 53-45.
White had a great summer running with TMP on the Grassroots Circuit. White 6’7 forward really excels in the transition game and likes to stalk the baseline.
Smalls 6’5 now has kept growing since last season. Smalls a big wing picked up some offers this summer from South Carolina State and North Carolina A&T. Smalls averaged 12.7 ppg and 5.2 rebounds last season for the Stags (20-3).
Fordham a point guard transferred in from nearby region foe Goose Creek HS. Fordham will take over with Ephraim Butler now suiting up at Francis Marion University. Fordham 5’11 is quick end to end on the floor.
Some players to keep a eye on this season
Travelle Simmons (2019) – Goose Creek HS
Simmons a jet quick guard recently played in the SCBCA Elite Camp in Columbia. Simmons has good elevation on his shot when he takes it on the perimeter.
Tristan Freeling (2020) – Wando HS (Mount Pleasant)
Freeling is a tough nosed kid that can make shots on the perimeter. Freeling 6’4 really plays the game with a blue-collar demeanor on the floor. Freeling averaged 5 ppg last season for the Warriors. Look for those numbers to increase.
Yaturi Bolton (2021) – Goose Creek HS
Bolton transferred into the Gators from nearby Cathedral Academy (SCISA 1-A) program. Bolton 6’5 will be a nice addition to the Gators and Head Coach Blake Hall.
Bailey Wiseman (2021) – James Island HS
Wiseman is a sharp shooting guard for the Trojans. Wiseman connected on 47 three pointers last season while averaging 10 ppg. Wiseman played the summer with TMP 15U on the Grassroots Circuit. Wiseman has a good feel for the game and he will for sure be a name to hear from in the years to come in the Lowcountry.
Jaden Scott (2021) – James Island HS
Scott is excelling on the football field this season for the Trojans as a wide receiver. Scott has recorded over 20 receptions. Scott and Wiseman look to be a good future back court
