Region 6 – AAAAA – Underclassmen
The Underclassmen in Region 6-AAAAA look to be a very promising group in the years to come. Prep Hoops takes a closer look at these players in this article.
Brian Sparks (2020) – South Florence HS
Sparks 6’1 point guard can get to the ball to the rack by slashing to the cup. Sparks averaged 9 ppg and 4 assists last season for the Bruins.
Justice Jackson (2020) – South Florence HS
Jackson can really score the ball and averaged 14 ppg last season for the Bruins. Look for those numbers to move up this season with Nick Ford transferring over to nearby Trinity-Byrnes, Jackson wants to score the ball and has a very quick 1st step to the rack.
Payton Lewis (2020) – Socastee HS
Lewis will need to find how to get minutes on this roster after transferring over from Highway 707 rival St James HS. Lewis recently played in the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo and showed some good flashes of his game from his freshman season for the Sharks.
Timothy Steele (2020) – Conway HS
Steele plays on both side of the line on the football team for the Tigers. Steele has the ability to step-out and handle the ball on the perimeter. Steele will look to provide leadership and scoring punch for the Tigers this season with the graduation of several players.
Mason Garcia (2020) – Carolina Forest HS
Garcia is having a great season on the football field as the quarterback for the Panthers. Earlier this fall Garcia 6’5 picked up a offer from East Carolina University.
Deondray Stanfield (2020) – St James HS (Murrells Inlet)
Stanfield has a bit of a old-school type game. Stanfield a left-handed driver can pop off some outside jumpers or get the ball to the basket for the Sharks, Stanfield ran with a local Grassroots Circuit in Manzer.
Kyle Watkins (2021) – Carolina Forest HS
Watkins a point guard is very mature and poised for his young age on the floor. Watkins will be the building block and the future for the Panthers program moving on. Watkins really has the ability to get the ball into gaps and find the open man very well.
James “JJ” Jones (2021) – Socastee HS
Jones is a just a great athlete with a ton of energy. Jones is currently playing football for the Braves and will suit it up for Head Coach Derrick Hilton in the weeks to come. Jones plays so much bigger than his size on the floor and plays both sides of the floor extremely hard. Jones will be a player that will be tough to keep off the floor this season for the Braves.
Carlton Terry Jr. (2022) – Conway HS
Terry Jr. is the son of current Tigers Football Head Coach Carlton Terry Sr. Terry Jr. looks to be the future quarterback on the gridiron. Terry Jr. had a good summer playing with Team Wall Southeast-Marion 2022 on the Grassroots Circuit.
