Region 6-AAAA Players to Watch (2019)
The official start day of practice is tomorrow in he Palmetto State. Prep Hoops takes a look at Region 6-AAAA in the Pee Dee area and Grand Strand.
The Wilson Tigers return a solid group of talent and even added Dillon HS transfer Darius Boatwright this off season.
Trae Hannibal is the cream of the crop here for the Hartsville HS Red Foxes. Hannibal a University of South Carolina commit is ranked #3 in the Palmetto State 2019 Rankings. Hannibal averaged 17 ppg, 8.3 rebounds and 5.5 assists last season for the Red Foxes.
Allen Williamson – Wilson HS
Williamson a left-handed guard has a old-school type of game. Williamson will look to be the leader for the Tigers this season with Alex Caldwell moving onto Southeast Missouri State. Williamson averaged 12 ppg last season. The Tigers fell last season in the 4-A State Championship Game to Ridge View HS.
Darius Boatwright – Wilson HS
Boatwright comes to the Tigers from nearby Dillon HS where he averaged 13.4 ppg for the Wildcats. Boatwright 6’7 slender wing likes to play on the perimeter and shoot 3 pointers. Boatwright has great length and can fill the lane in transition.
Maine Gibson – Wilson HS
Gibson a left-handed guard will take over the reins in the backcourt for the Tigers. Gibson has a good stroke from downtown and plays with a scrappy minded attitude and isn’t afraid to get on the floor.
Ziohn Brown – Wilson HS
Brown a undersized post player is the unsung hero on the this very talented team. Brown isn’t not afraid to back you down in the post and throw his weight around. Brown rebounds the ball well out of the area and plays bigger than his size.
Deshawn Brackett – Wilson HS
Brackett 5’11 will contribute good minutes with Gibson in the backcourt this season for the Tigers. Brackett plays a 94 feet game when on the floor and never lacks for effort. Brackett could be a finding factor in this senior dominated starting 5 for the Tigers.
Kenynon Scott – Darlington HS
Scott is a bit of a undersized shooting guard. Scott who averaged 11.2 ppg last season for the Falcons has a nice mid-range game.
Tyshaun Johnson – Darlington HS
Johnson is a streaky shooter from the point guard spot. Johnson gets the ball into the gaps and finds the open man. Johnson actually attends Mayo High School for Math & Science. Johnson is the younger brother of former Falcons great Frankie Johnson now attending Wingate University (NC) (NCAA). Johnson had started off at the Citadel.
Tyron Stockdale – North Myrtle Beach HS
Stockdale hopes to be on the hardwood this season for the Chiefs. Stockdale didn’t play football this season for the Chiefs after running into some off court troubles. Stockdale plays with a lot of confidence and swagger on the floor and is best suited off the ball.
Marlboro County HS and Myrtle Beach HS have no 2019 players that should look to contribute this coming season.
Prep Hoops Predictions
