Recruiting Round-Up: Offers, Visits and a Commitment
We’re officially off and running with the start of high school basketball practice today but the recruiting season never ends for prospective student athletes. Here’s a look at the latest recruiting info for players across Kentucky.
- Covington Catholic senior forward Nick Thelen committed to Division II powerhouse Bellarmine University in Louisville over the weekend. Thelen is a bruising power forward who should have a great career with the Knights.
- Madison Central forward Isaiah Cozart took a visit to Western Kentucky on Thursday and was the recipient of an offer from the Hilltoppers. Cozart has already taken all 5 of his official visits and anticipates making a commitment decision as soon as this week.
- Scott High School wing Trey Meister has recently been offered by Mount Saint Joesph’s, Anderson University, Marietta College and Thomas More. Meister is an athletic wing that is likely to wait and sign in the spring period.
- Madisonville-North Hopkins guard Cade Cunningham has taken visits to Centre and Transylvania in recent weeks. Cunningham holds an offer from Brescia University.
- Elliott County sharpshooter Tanner Dickerson has been offered by NAIA power Pikeville and coach Kelly Wells. Dickerson is one of the top players in the 16th region.
- Mercer County Senior point guard Carter Baughman has taken visits to Centre, Asbury and Transylvania in recent weeks. Carter is another player who is likely to wait until the spring to make his decision.
- University Heights Senior Dekeyvan Tandy has narrowed his college list to Ole Miss and Xavier. A decision is expected any day now for the high scoring combo guard from Hopkinsville.
- 2020 South Laurel guard Matt Cromer took an unofficial visit to Western Carolina and recently had VMI in the gym for a workout. Matt is one of the biggest risers in our 2020 rankings over the past year.
- Another Junior guard, Collins’ Marcellus Vail picked up his first scholarship offer from Kentucky State recently. Vail is one of our highest ranked guards in 2020.
- Scott County Senior forward Michael Moreno has taken official visits to Eastern Kentucky and Winthrop already but has no timetable for a decision.
- George Rogers Clark Senior Brennan Canada has taken visits to Campbellsville and Centre in recent weeks. Campbellsville has offered the 6’7 forward a scholarship but he is not expecting to make a decision until after the high school season.
