Recruiting Repot: Ben Jensen (2019)
Ben Jensen, a 6-foot-10 stretch forward out of W.T. Woodson, brings the best of both worlds when it comes to basketball and academics. Jensen looked good when we saw him during the first part of our open gym tour last month. He looks set for a productive senior campaign, and perhaps an even more productive college career. Jensen spoke on his overall game and recruitment during a recent interview.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your overall game?
BJ: “I can take it outside, can shoot the 3, but I can also show you something inside.”
PH: What’s the most underrated part of your overall game?
BJ: “Probably my jump shot.”
PH: What’s the most improved part of your overall game in recent months?
BJ: “My post moves. My inside game has definitely improved.”
PH: What are you working on now?
BJ: “A little bit of everything. Trying to get in some work on my ball handling. Getting stronger with my left hand.”
PH: How are your grades? What is your GPA/SAT Score?
BJ: “I have a 3.67, and I got a 1330 on my SAT.”
PH: How tall are you exactly?
BJ: “I’m 6-foot-10.”
PH: Have you measured your wingspan?
BJ: “I think it’s around 7 feet.”
PH: Which schools have been most active in your recruitment?
BJ: “Williams College, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, University of Rochester; and a little bit from Cornell and West Point.”
PH: What is the timetable like for you on deciding which school to attend?
BJ: “Probably end of the year. So around April.”
PH: What are your short and long-term goals?
BJ: “Definitely want to try and play D1. It’s always been a dream of mine. If I can’t achieve that, just go where I can; where I best fit.”
