Recruiting Report: Phillip Jordan (2019)
You don’t have to look on a sneaker team to find scholarship level guard, and Phillip Jordan is a perfect example of this. Jordan, who was rock solid throughout the spring and summer for Mid-Atlantic Select, is one of the best available lead guards in the DMV. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, he spoke in depth on his recruitment and what he hopes to accomplish in the near future among other topics.
PH: Which schools are recruiting you the hardest right now?
PJ: “Shepherd, Randolph Macon, and St. Mary’s (MD). All three are recruiting me pretty hard.”
PH: Have you taken the SAT yet?
PJ: “Yes, but I’m taking it again. I got a 1200, but I’m trying to improve my score.”
PH: What are your short and long-term goals?
PJ: “My short term goals are to get through the upcoming basketball season, be strong, attract more attention from programs at the next level, and definitely do well on my SAT’s coming up so I can be more available to coaches. My long-term goals are to win as many IAC games as possible, and to work on my game continuously.”
PH: What is your role going to be like at St. Albans this year?
PJ: “I’m a vocal leader. Pretty much trying to do everything, assists, getting buckets, playing defense. Just keeping my team in it during tough games.”
PH: What is the timetable for your college decision?
PJ: “I’m planning on making that after the season.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
PJ: “Effort for sure, and defense. I love playing defense. If they need a leader, I can do that. Even if they already have one, I’m going to be vocal.
