Recruiting Report: Maleeck Harden (2019)
Moorhead wing Maleeck Harden had such an outstanding 17u season with ECI that college coaches from the Summit and the NSIC came calling about future opportunities.
Maleeck visited Sioux Falls, Minnesota State-Moorhead, South Dakota State, and North Dakota State, and after those visits three of those schools (USF, MSUM, and NDSU) offered scholarships. At this point Harden is thinking about school so visits and a decision aren’t in his mind.
“As of right now I’m just focused on school so no visits scheduled up,” Harden said.
Harden is focused on being a senior. Basketball wise and academic wise. Improving his game is another Maleeck Harden focus.
“My focus coming into the year is being more of a threat on the arc so I can space the floor even more.”
Harden scored 14 a game as a junior for a 12 win team. Maleeck and Drew Hagen are back as the leaders of the Spuds and they have higher expectations. Harden is ready for the daily grind of the season to begin.
“I’m excited to see how me and my teammates grow though this season and for the young guys to experience something they have yet to experience,” Maleeck said.
Harden has had some special moments in basketball. A D1 scholarship, some special moments with ECI this spring and summer, and a good varsity career. But in middle school is where it all started.
“I will never forget a 7th grade tournament when we played a game 3 on 5,” Harden said.
Hey man, Harden has beaten the odds for a long time. Started in grade seven and it should go through his senior year.
