Recruiting Report: Malcolm Alexander (2020)
Malcolm Alexander, a 6-foot-4 junior at Bullis, is a player to watch in the IAC this season. Since receiving his first division one offer from Howard in July, Alexander has emerged on the radar of a few other local division one programs. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, he spoke in detail about his recruitment and his overall game among other topics.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?
MA: “I feel like I’m a great shooter, and I can get to the basket if I really want to.”
PH: What’s the most underrated part of your game right now?
MA: “I feel like my defense; how long I am. I get a lot of steals.”
PH: What do you think is the most improved part of your overall game?
MA: “I’d say my IQ on the court. Talking on defense.”
PH: What are you working on right now?
MA: “My ball-handling and finishing at the rim.”
PH: What’s your role going to be like this year?
MA: “Spot up shooter. Being a leader on the floor, and just getting my teammates involved on offense.”
PH: How are your grades?
MA: “They’re great right now. A’s and B’s.”
PH: Who’s recruiting you right now?
MA: “Loyola (MD), UMBC, Mount St. Mary’s, and Howard.”
PH: What type of feedback do you receive from college coaches?
MA: “Keep doing what I’m doing on and off the court, and they’re going to come and watch me play up here.”
PH: What are your short and long term goals?
MA: “Short-term, just getting stronger in the weight room every day. Long-term, to get better as a team in practice every day.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
MA: “I feel like I can spread the floor on offense; just being a shooter. Since I can shoot, it will open up driving lanes to the basket when defenders jump.”
