Recruiting Report: Jonathan Renois (2021)
A young player on the rise is 2021 guard Jonathan Renois.
The 5’11”, 165-pounder averaged 14.2 PPG for a Somerset team that finished 11-13 on the season in perhaps one of the toughest districts in the state, Class 5A-District 13.
“My freshman year was really good. I surprised myself with the way I was scoring during the year and that really boosted my confidence as a player,” Renois told Prep Hoops.
With the additions of 2020 guard Dudley Blackwell (UF, Iowa State and FGCU offers) and 2020 guard Brandon Garcia (FIU and UNF offers), Renois will be surrounded by some high-end talent.
University, Chaminade Madonna, Cardinal Gibbons and Calvary Christian won’t be easy to get past in the district, but Renois has high expectations for his group.
“This year I believe my team has the ability to win districts and make it very far,” he said.
Over the summer, Renois spent his second straight year with Team Knight. He said it went very well and his team won a lot of games.
No offers have come yet for the sophomore, but he’s drawn interest from Princeton, Sage and Amherst.
He called his biggest strengths his athleticism, ability to get to the basket and make plays and create for his teammates.
Renois does things that surprise you. He can dunk already and he is blazing fast (peep the video below). He’s a smart and crafty kid. Renois leads by example and will be able to duplicate plenty of his positive play from a year ago on a very athletic Somerset team this season.
