Recruiting Report: Jean Youte (2019)
In 24 of 25 games played as a junior, Jean Youte scored 10 or more points.
The 2019 Hardee guard led his group with 17.5 PPG, scoring a season-best 35 points in a 68-66 loss. He also reached the 20 point mark on nine different occasions.
A 6’1″ 170-pounder also suits up for the Wildcats football team as a safety and wide receiver.
Currently, he has one offer for basketball from Labette Community College. Youte has also drawn interest from University of Illinois at Springfield, New York Institute of Technology, Heidelberg University, Colorado College, Warner, Southeastern and Methodist.
Hardee went 15-12 a season ago with Youte out in front.
“My 11th grade year didn’t go as planned but I learned a lot from it. I saw a lot of improvement in my overall game mostly in my shot, decision making and leadership,” Youte told Prep Hoops. “What I’m excited about the most at Hardee for my senior year is that we are going to be a scrappy defensive first minded team with a lot of players that can score the ball.”
Youte pointed to his biggest strengths as his ability to get to the basket and finish, defense and distribution as a passer. He wants to continue to improve his 3-point shot and mid-range jumper.
Expect another standout season for Youte with Hardee. The kid is strong inside as a slasher and his speed and passing ability help get everyone going. He will have to carry the brunt of the load and it is something college coaches have to love about his game.
