Recruiting Report: Jake Kettner (2019)
Minnesota Valley Lutheran guard Jake Kettner had one of the better 17u seasons of any 2019 and it’s led to college opportunities at the next level. NHR caught up with Jake today to talk about his senior year.
Jake is playing football and his team lost their first three games but has won two of their last three games.
“Football is going very well,” Jake told NHR. “I play Wide Receiver and Safety. We’re currently 2-4 with a good chance to win our last two games and end the regular season with a .500 record and good momentum going into playoffs.”
Once football is over it’s back to the court where Kettner is one of the best guards in the state. Jake handles a lot of the playmaking for his team so that is what Kettner is working on.
“There are many things I’d like to improve on for this upcoming season. I’m mostly focusing on trying to improve my handle and my finishing ability.
“I’m most excited to play my senior year with some of my closest friends and competing for a section title and state berth.”
Jake will have a lot of memories from his high school career but maybe the most memorable item was a game years back when basketball helped local people.
“Our coaches vs cancer game my freshman year,” said Kettner of his most memorable basketball moment. “We had a huge crowd and raised a lot of money for a great cause.”
Kettner is in the middle of deciding what his college future visits are. He was recently offered by the University of Sioux Falls and plans to visit there soon, among other places.
“I have recently taken a visit to Dakota State University and plan on visiting Bethany Lutheran College and The University of Sioux Falls later this month,” Kettner said.
