Recruiting Report: Goodnews Kpegeol (2019)
North St. Paul graduate Goodnews Kpegeol is now at Taylor Made Academy and his outstanding summer with Grassroots Sizzle has turned into a fabulous fall.
Goodnews arrived at Taylor Made Academy in Pensacola, Florida this fall and immediately Memphis, Kansas State, and UMass were in the gym and a UMass scholarship came the way of Kpegeol. After workouts later in the month Loyola-Chicago, Hofstra, Saint Louis, South Carolina, Utah, Temple, and Virginia all came to the gym to see, and ask a out Kpegeol. Offers from Saint Louis and Hofstra were added to the massive list.
In his first game in mid-October Goodnews gave his team 12 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. A day later in that jamboree Goodnews scored 14 with five boards and four assists. Two weeks later Goodnews played in front of our Prep Hoops Georgia team scoring 27 points led by five threes plus had six boards and five assists. The next day Goodnews had a 26 points game with four threes made.
After performances like that Kansas State is excited to get Goodnews on campus for a visit (where an offer is expected) and Minnesota has made a call to the 6-foot-6 wing. Kpegeol will visit Kansas State the second weekend of November officially.
St. Joseph’s, St. Bonaventure, Georgia State, and Akron are other schools that have offered Goodnews.
Taylor Made Academy coachA nthony Taylor spoke about why schools are coming and seeing Kpegeol regularly.
“He’s very versatile like Harrison Barnes. He has incredible feel for the game. He can shoot, he can score, he can make shots for himself and others. He’s very athletic and has length.”
Goodnews scored 18.4 points per game for the 23-win Polars last winter.
