Recruiting Report: David Roddy (2019)
David Roddy was at Northwestern last weekend, will be at Wyoming next weekend. David spoke with Prep Hoops about his football year and his basketball recruitment today.
David averaged 25.4 points and 12.9 rebounds a game as a junior for Breck, and then the 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds last spring/summer for Howard Pulley in the EYBL a few months back. Last weekend David took his third official this fall when he saw Northwestern on a basketball trip.
“The visit to Northwestern went well,” Roddy said. “I liked the team and their chemistry the most. Positive culture with great students. And great facilities.”
Roddy has also been to Minnesota and Colorado State. Minnesota is recruiting David Roddy with strong effort and they are a team David continues to consider.
“They are up there in consideration,” Roddy explained. “Hopefully my guys JTO and Dan, and Gabe all improve and compete at their best. Its great seeing them succeed and the hard work paying off. Wish them nothing but the best.”
David’s biggest focus right now is finishing off a senior season in the way he’s dreamed of. Breck is ranked 6th in Class AAA and they are the favorite to get through sections and make the state tournament.
“Football is going well,” Roddy explained. “The team is continuing to improve and we are in a good place heading in to sections. I’m excited for our team because it’s the same territory, but a new opportunity in the section.
“Me personally I have done well as a QB. I’m just focusing on being the best QB I can for my team. The stats and things don’t matter to me as long as I complete passes and be efficient and the team wins. Thats all I care about now. And also enjoying the last ride as a Breck Mustang.”
Roddy has his Breck football team at 6-1 heading into this week’s regular season finale against St. Paul Humboldt. At a football rostered 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds David has completed 56.2 percent of the 25 passes he’s throwing a game for 200 yards a contest. David has thrown 17 touchdown passes versus six interceptions plus he’s ran for four touchdowns and 221 yards.
Defense? Of course David Roddy and his explosive 245 pound frame plays defense as well. David has 18 solo tackles, an interception, and three fumble recoveries. Punter? Of course he is the punter averaging 46 yards a kick. Sounds fun huh? Wyoming things so as they will be David’s next visit (again, that’s a football visit).
“Visit to Wyoming this weekend, I believe then time off, then a decision,” Roddy said.
