Recruiting Report: Andre Screen (2020)
Not many prospects in the local 2020 class have improved as much as Andre Screen over the course of the last 12 months. The 6-foot-10 post prospect out of St. Stephens & St. Agnes, who blocks shots and is becoming a mammoth on the boards, can score in a variety of ways on the offensive end. Screen still has a lot of room for growth, but it just seems like he gets better each time we see him. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, he talked a bit about his recruitment and overall game among other topics.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your overall game?
AS: “I think I’m a good post scorer with good touch. I play solid defense, and I have a mid range jump shot.”
PH: What do you is the most improved part of your overall game?
AS: “I think my fitness has improved a lot. I’ve been working really hard.”
PH: What do you think you need to work on the most?

PH: What’s your role going to be like this year?
AS: “I think I’m going to get a lot more minutes than last year. Last year was my first year on varsity, but now I’m used to it. I know what’s ahead of me so I won’t be surprised anymore. I think I’m going to be a big contributor to the team this year.”
PH: How are your grades?
AS: “I’m a good student A’s and B’s. This year, I’m happy with my classes, and everything is looking good.”
PH: Who’s recruiting you right now?
AS: “Oklahoma State. I have an offer from Howard. GW is showing interest. I’m also hearing from a lot of Ivy’s; Brown is one that stands out. Creighton, NC State, and South Carolina.”
PH: What type of feedback do you receive from college coaches?
AS: “They tell me that I need to work on my conditioning and defense, but they like my post scoring ability.”
PH: What are your short and long term goals?
AS: “Short term goals are to average maybe 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks this season. Long-term goals are to win the IAC, win states, and do it again the year after. Also to play college basketball at the division one level.
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
AS: “I think I can bring good energy. A big post presence. A nice mid range shot, and a good teammate overall.”
