Recruiting Report: Aaron Tims (2020)
Hinsdale South 2020 Aaron Tims is an intriguing combo forward that we didn’t see much of during the travel team circuit, but have always liked his upside. Saw him again this fall at the PrepHoops Top 250 camp where he impressed. Long and angular lefty with a lot of bounce. Fluid running the floor. Excels in transition. Can handle it in the open floor. Threat as a catch and shoot guy. Intriguing prospect that could explode on the high school season this year.
How is his Hinsdale South squad looking coming into the season?
“I think it is going to be good. We have a lot of good sophomores that are coming up. There are a lot of players from the sophomore team that we hope to make an impact this year.”
With the graduation of Iowa State commit Zion Griffin he will have to be a bigger part of the team on both ends of the floor.
“My role this year will to score more than I did last year after we lost Zion (Griffin). Now it is my time to show what I got.”
What did he take from Griffin that he can use the next two seasons?
“His ability to attack, his jump shot, and his hunger for the game.”
Tims spoke about the areas of his game he saw the most improvement.
“I would say my dribbling because last year I mainly played in the post. Now I am starting to step out more on the perimeter and attacking. I have gotten more athletic and am a better shooter.”
What are the strengths of his game?
“I can post. I am athletic. In transition I can attack. My first step is pretty quick.”
No offers as of now, but he is hearing from several Midwest programs.
“Northern Illinois, Western Illinois, Drake, and Miami (OH) are interested.”
