Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s most underrated senior bigs.
Kobe Bonner, 5’10, PG, 2018, Seaman
Bonner helped lead Seaman to the Class 5A state championships in hometown Topeka last season,. He is a tough, defensive-minded point guard who really competes at both ends of the court. He can get in up into opposing ball handlers and create problems with his ball pressure. At the offensive end of the court, he is a willing passer, good leader and a knock down shooter from 3-point range.
Tyce Brown, 6’0, PG, 2019, Shawnee Heights
Brown quietly put together a strong season last year for a young and inexperienced Shawnee Heights team that was rebuilding after winning a state championship two years ago. At 6’1, Brown has good size, has a good feel for playing the position and is a terrific outside shooter and has a nice floater in the lane.
Dillon Byrne, 6’1, G, 2019, Silver Lake
Byrne is a hard worker who is a team first player who brings energy and hustle to the floor and good court awareness. He can rebound, defend and hit timely baskets and shoots it well from behind the 3-point arc.
Ty Cooper, 5’11, G, 2019, Wamego
Cooper largely played in the shadow of 2018 point guard Thomas Dillon a year ago, but this year Cooper will be taking on a much bigger role this season for Wamego. He is a solid all-around guard who played off the ball a year ago but is capable of handling point guard duties, can get to the basket and can score from the perimeter as well.
Savian Edwards, 6’0, G, 2019, Washburn Rural, SSA Elite
Edwards is a tough, defensive minded guard who loves to pressure the ball, forces turnovers and brings a big motor to the floor. At the offensive end of the court, Edwards is an attack first guard who is terrific in the open floor and is capable of finishing in traffic.
