Prospect Spotlight: Laurence Dallas (2019)
Michigan’s class of 2019 has talent all over the state. Canton Prep has a talented senior point guard in Laurence Dallas. In addition to playing at Canton Prep, he played grassroots basketball for Hudson Elite. Dallas averaged 8.7 ppg, 6.5 apg, and 3.4 rpg last high school season. During the summer and fall, he averaged 14.6 ppg, 7 apg, and 6 rpg,
Laurence Dallas is a prototypical point guard prospect. The 5’8” senior is a floor general who creates for his teammates. He plays with his head up, seeing the court and delivering the ball with the most efficient pass. Dallas is a solid on-ball perimeter defender. He recognizes good shots, which allows him to shoot at a high percentage. Dallas is working to improve his ability to create space off the dribble. He is also striving to become more consistent with his mid range jumper.
Dallas is an experienced player who is ready to show his improvement in the coming season. His best moment in basketball so far was getting a double-double against Bedford last season. Dallas looks forward to being a leader for his Canton Prep team, both on the court and in the locker room.
Laurence Dallas has a skill set that could be valuable to a college coach. His excellent defense should transfer to the next level. Dallas currently holds one offer from Oakland Community College. He has been shown interest from some other schools as well.
Dallas is as successful off the court as he is on. He enjoys playing 2K and watching Stephen A. Smith. Dallas would like to play basketball professionally and then be a broadcaster on ESPN.
Laurence Dallas is motivated to be successful. His greatest source of motivation is his Dad.
