Prospect Spotlight: Koby Hardcastle (2019)
Recently, ADM senior Koby Hardcastle made his debut on the 2019 prospect rankings. And with a big senior ahead and some college interest coming his way, he’s looking to continue to take his game to new heights.
The 6-foot-2 combo-guard is definitely one of the better shooters around, but that’s not all he can do. The last couple of years, his playmaking ability has developed alongside his shooting prowess.
“My main thing is I like to be a creator. A lot of people know me for my shooting, but I think sometimes coaches just think I’m a shooter, but then they figure out I can do a lot more, I can get into the paint and create for others,” said Hardcastle.
With Central Iowa Young Guns 17U this past summer, he worked to add leadership abilities to his existent playmaking and shooting ones.
“This summer went well, and the biggest thing for me was improving my leadership. Now that I’m a senior, I’m going to have to step up, there’s not really those older guys to look up to anymore,” said Hardcastle
As a junior at ADM, Hardcastle was good. He led the Tigers with 13.1 points per game. This year, consistency and team success is a priority for him.
“For me, the goal is to stay consistent. I was pretty consistent last year but there were a couple games where I struggled,” said Hardcastle. “I want to be able to get into the lane more and stay consistent that way. And then a big goal is just winning and keeping everyone on the same page.”
After his senior season ends, there’s a chance that Hardcastle will have college hoops opportunities; Grand View, Midland and Coe have all been showing interest.
“Of course, the goal is to get a scholarship, but the biggest thing for me is just finding the right fit,” said Hardcastle. “Whether that’s D2, NAIA or D3, it doesn’t really matter to me.”
Koby Hardcastle is ranked by Prep Hoops as a top 180 prospect in his class.
