Prospect Spotlight: Joshua Bell (2019)
Class 4A Palm Glades added yet another talented point guard to its side.
Last year it was senior Jaiden Lee who was carving defenses with his pure scoring ability. He scored 32 points against Bayshore Christian at the inaugural Prep Hoops Sun Bash in January in Tampa. Lee is now at Florida Gateway College.
Fast forward to this point now and Palm Glades has Joshua Bell on its side, a transfer from Somerset Silver Palms.
Bell stated his reasons for coming to Palm Glades for his senior campaign.
“I transferred because I noticed how coach Renaldo Ramnarine over at Palm Glades carried his team and players,” Bell told Prep Hoops. “He gets his kids that produce to the next level and that’s what I’m trying to do.”
He says he is excited about the new fit and role he’ll have for the Eagles.
“Unlike last season where it was me and my teammate where we basically had to take control of everything,” Bell said. “Now, our whole team at Palm Glades is talented and have the right mindset going forward.”
Bell pointed to his vocalness, aggressiveness and control of the offense as three aspects of his game that got better a year ago.
This summer, he played for the Crusaders at ACC and played in a few team camps and tournaments. He then suited up for the Palm Glades travel team.
No offers or interest have come yet for the 5’7″ guard.
Bell said his biggest strengths as a point guard are his IQ, ball handling, passing, shooting and strength. He wants to improve his scrappiness defensively, his finish over bigger defenders and his vocalness.
Expect this offense to go through Bell, a player who is a bit smaller than the previous standout Lee. However, he can score from deep often and his instincts are through the roof. Come watch this Palm Glades squad once again at the Prep Hoops Sun Bash on Jan. 3-5 at Carrollwood Day School.
