Prospect Spotlight: Javontay Rollings (2019)
Javontay Rollings is known throughout Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Class of 2019 guard did pull down four rebounds in Riverdale High School’s Class AAA state quarterfinal game in March.
Can Javontay expand his impact beyond middle Tennessee? He intends to.
“Looking to prove a lot this year,” shared Javontay Thursday night.
Instead of returning to Riverdale with their deep senior class (Deron Perry, Elijah Cobb, Brayden Siren, Kai Crawford, Maliek Mcallister, Rashaad Thompson) Javontay Rollings elected to transfer to Stewart’s Creek High.
Stewart’s Creek High suffered a big transfer loss of their own as Javonte “J.J.” Platt now attends Webb School-Bell Buckle. His vacancy actually might be the perfect problem for Javontay to solve.
“I’ll be playing point and trying to carry what I learned from Riverdale back to the Murphy Center,” said Rollings.
AAU
The AAU campaign of Javontay included two different teams. Rollings ran with Team Manimal out of Kentucky on the adidas Gauntlet circuit. Around July he switched over to BFG Elite. One other Tennessee-based player competed with Javontay on Team Manimal Elite (KY). B.J. Davis (Brentwood Academy) also played for the Kentucky-based AAU program.
What are Javontay’s goals for the Stewart’s Creek season?
“Just be the team leader.”
And the senior wants to get his new team to the Murphy Center.
