Prospect Spotlight: Abdul Delaney (2019)
Over the off-season, Abdul Delaney and the Christiansburg High School boys basketball team ran several open gyms to keep basketball at the top of mind heading into the school year. Delaney will be one of the main pieces moving into his final high school campaign and recognized that the team will be a bit on the younger side.
“We are actually a young team,” Delaney said. “We have five seniors and the rest are sophomores and juniors.”
At the end of October, it is still unclear what the rest of the league looks like, but Delaney is confident that Christiansburg will be able to compete.
Although the senior forward has yet to receive interest from a college program, he is continuing to work on his craft, really honing in on his ball handling and scoring. This will help Delaney be more of an intriguing prospect to coaches as it will make him stronger from the perimeter.
After seeing him play at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Showcase in Richmond, Delaney will be a player to take note of during the winter as he has been flying under the radar throughout his high school career. If he can prove to be an efficient scorer to go along with his rebounding ability, he will have the potential to turn some heads.
