The Metro Catholic Conference continued its string of consecutive years of having a team represented in the Final Four of the Class 5 state tournament when Chaminade finished as the state runner-up.

The streak goes back to 2013 when DeSmet finished second and Vianney finished fourth. Then came CBC in 2014 (state champions), Chaminade (state champions) and SLUH in 2015 and 2016 and Chaminade once again in 2017.
