PREVIEW: Kansas’ young inside-out wings (2021)
As part of its 2018-19 preview series, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players in a variety of positions in the rising sophomore class.
Below are some of the state’s top young inside-out players in the 2021 class.
Charlie Goree, 6’3, G/F, 2021, Wichita Collegiate
Goree is a big guard with good size and frame for his age and combined his physical attributes with terrific all-around skill. He moves well without the basketball and brought some skill and versatility to the floor.
Tanner Hecht, 6’3, G/F, 2021, Wamego
A wing player who is slight of build, Hecht brings a lot of hustle and a big motor to the floor. He can score in the paint and around the basket, but can also step out to the wing and knock down outside shots. He is an effort player who outworks opponents and turns loose balls and offensive rebounds into buckets.
Parker Hill, 6’3, F, 2021, Blue Valley, JC Hoops 15U
Hill is a skilled two-way player who has good size and athleticism and the ability to impact a game in a variety of ways. He is a good passer, can play point forward and and has the ability to use his size and score in the paint as well.
Nicholas Hogan, 6’4, F, 2021, Eisenhower, KS MTXE 16U
Hogan spent the summer playing up an age group with the KS MTXE 16U squad and showed he can hold his own. An inside-out forward, Hogan can post up in the paint where he shows good footwork, but can also step out and knock down perimeter shots with range that extends to the 3-point arc.
Drew Nicholson, 6’4, F, 2021, Holsington, Kansas Kings
Nicholson is a skilled wing player with long arms and a lean, rangy frame who put together a strong offseason running with the Kansas Kings. He showed a well-rounded offensive game with a lot of upside. He can shoot the 3 with range, put it on the floor and attack the basket and even has a nice pull-up game from the mid-range.
