Preseason All-Defense Watch List: Part 2
Fayetteville Academy Senior Center Emmanuel Izunabor: One of the better shot blockers in the state, he does a nice job of protecting the paint and blocking shots at a high volume. As time has gone on he has gotten better overall, improving staying out of foul trouble is his next step but overall he is a player that D1 programs should be calling about.
Grace Christian Senior Forward/Center Julian Steinfield: Don’t say you weren’t warned about the potential of this young man. He is continuing to improve and we feel that he is going to have a big time season, with his height at 6’10 you shouldn’t be surprised with his ability to be a rim protector.
Holly Springs Senior Forward Kadin Shedrick: Another player that has gotten better at a consistent rate, he runs the floor, blocks shots and is a solid defender in pick and roll situations. UVA has already gotten a commitment from Kadin and we feel as though he will grow nicely in that program in the future but watch out for him to do well this season.
New Life Christian Junior Forward Jeremyah McWilliams: Another player that has improved at a nice rate and will only get better as time goes on. The work that he puts in on his game and body will only help him make a smooth transition to the next level and be a player that will finish up his career at the high school level in a nice way. Blocking shots and rebounding are things that he does really well, he doesn’t leave his feet too early and has good timing.
Sophomore Forward Leontae Moye: His energy and motor are some things that set him apart from many of the other players in his class. Of course he already has a nice skillset and athletic ability that he uses to rebound the ball and block shots on the defensive end of the court.
Hendersonville HS Senior Forward Ben Beeker: He brings a different type of toughness to the court, he has more of a solid strength to him and plays both under and above the rim. The last time we got the chance to see him play, we left very impressed with the impact he has on both ends of the floor but especially on the defensive end post wise. He has picked up a few offers so far and we feel he could be an early impact D2 guy but is a D1 prospect guy as well.
