Preseason All-Conference: Top of Iowa – West
Preseason Player of the Year: James Betz, GHV — 2019
The Northern Iowa-commit has long-established himself as one of the best prospects in the state, and is now heading into his senior season as a grizzled vet. As a junior, he was dominant, and was just a hair shy of averaging a double-double. We expect him to get that double-double average this year, and should be dominant on both sides of the ball for the Cardinals.
First Team
James Betz, GHV — 2019
15.4 points, 2.5 assists, 1.7 blocks, 9.9 rebounds
A long, strong and very bouncy 6-foot-6 forward, Betz is one of the most physically imposing forwards in the state, and he has the skill to pair. He’ll dominate each night out.
TJ Schnurr, Bishop Garrigan — 2019

Another forward who will dominate each night out, Schnurr will pass, shoot and control the paint for a Bears squad that has a chance to bring home a state title this winter.
Angelo Winkel, Bishop Garrigan — 2021
14.8 points, 2.1 blocks, 6.9 rebounds
As a freshman, Winkel proved that he was one of Iowa’s best Class of 2021 guys, and he’s spent his offseason working tirelessly to continue and improve.
Chett Helming, Lake Mills — 2020
