The number one player in this class is Jerrell Colbert (pictured above). Colbert is one of the best big men in his class because of his tremendous amount of upside. He has the potential to crack the top 3, when it is all said and done. It is all up to him though. He possesses long arms, runs the floor really well, and is patient on the low post. The 5-star needs to become a more consistent scorer on the low block. He also must continue to add strength and dominate the glass. Colbert should not be satisfied with his current position because the number 2 and 3 ranked players are definitely in hot pursuit.
The number two player and number one PF K.J. Adams had the luxury of playing 17s with Texas Hardwork and produced at a high level. His play has earned him early offers from SMU, TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M. The Austin native is an inside-out hybrid four with a college-ready body.
Keon Edwards is a rangy, skilled wing with potential. He can handle the ball in the open floor and looks to score from the perimeter of the bounce. The 5-star small forward also blows by defenders and gets to the rim and score. He has a lot in his bag but also has a lot of upside.
The number one point guard is Wade Taylor who rounds out the top 5 and is another player who had the luxury of playing 17s. Wade shoots the ball extremely well off the bounce, is an acrobat at the rim, and creates for his teammates. He is a high character type of kid that people love to be around. His play this summer has earned him multiple high major offers.
Other players not mentioned above… Langston Love is the number one SG in the class. He played alongside K.J. Adams on Texas Hardwork 17s and benefitted from it. Harrison Ingram is at number 4 in the class. He is a skilled 4-star prospect with multiple high major offers. He played on the Adidas circuit with one of the best 16U teams in the country. The former Ballislife 5th-grade phenom aka Jaden Jones is slotted at 9. He is a big question mark because he did not play in the state during the summer. Jaden has great size for position at 6’7″ and can see the floor; however, he is very slow-footed and his shot selection is questionable. We will see how his game develops throughout the rest his high school career.
Sleepers: Griffin Datcher has a chance to be a top 10 player in the class if he continues to get better. He already possesses a college-ready body, solid athleticism, and is capable of hitting a shot from deep. Elijah Taylor is a heady lead guard who did more than held his own while playing 17s this past summer. Also, shooters such as Tyler Lundblade, Coleton Benson, Juan Reyna, and Gavin Perryman provide value to their grassroots teams this summer. Be on the lookout for all fifty of the ranked 2021 prospects this upcoming high school season.
