Below are some of the high level underclassmen to watch for this upcoming weekend. Keep these guys on your radar as you enjoy the games this weekend. The tournament will be held at GCC and Apollo on Friday. On Saturday, the games will be at Apollo and Ironwood.
Paris Woods 6’3 PG 2021 Apollo
Woods is one of the top guards who will be in the event. He is long and a knockdown shooter. When he gets into the paint, he makes good decisions with the basketball. He does a good job of finding his teammates. Moreover, he has a consistent floater. Woods is primed for a breakout season.
JJ White 6’3 SG 2021 Ironwood
White is one of the top on-ball defenders in the event. He is not afraid to go toe to toe with opposing team’s top player. Moreover, he is an improved shooter who is able to attack the rim and finish at a high level. Expect White to have a breakout season.
Bailon Black 6’3 PG 2021 Ironwood
Black is one of the top shooters in the event. His ability to let it fly from anywhere on the floor with confidence is huge. Moreover, he is a skilled passer with a good basketball IQ. He will be responsible for getting the basketball into playmaker’s hands.
Giovanni De La Fuente 6’0 SG 2021 Taylor Made Prep
De La Fuente is another shooter whom teams will need to keep an eye on. This past week, against the ACU Prospect team, he hit a couple of threes while demonstrating a consistent stroke from deep. He will look to continue his sharp shooting this weekend as Taylor Made looks to make noise in the West Valley.
Dimitrios Stragalinos 6’5 SG 2021 Hillcrest Prep
Stragalinos is one of the top underclassmen in the west coast. He holds multiple D1 offers and can shoot the basketball at a high level. Further, he has good length and size. Despite his youth, he is able to play the game at a high level and is not afraid of contact. Stragalinos has a high upside and will be dangerous at this event as well as going forward.
Dorell Thomas 6’4 SF 2022 Hillcrest Prep
Like Stragalinos, Thomas has multiple D1 offers as well. He has been listed as high as a 5* prospect by other scouting sites. He is one of the top prospects in the west coast. Moreover, he will be one of the top underclassmen at the event this weekend. He has good athleticism and a lot of upside. Thomas will look to make a huge impact this weekend.
Ti Cochrane 6’4 SF 2021 Williams Field
Cochrane was solid this summer for the Firestorm. Further, he has added more length and skill. Williams Field is always well-coached and has plenty of talent. With that said, Cochrane is apart of a trio of sophomores who provide Williams Field with a bright future. It will be intriguing to see a lengthier and more skilled Cochrane compete against some top tier prospects this weekend.
