PHI Freshman Showcase: Team 3 Evaluations
The last bit of the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase is coming out over the next few days as we finish up our evaluations for the event. Today, we are looking at Team 1 and those players full breakdowns.
#23 Malachi Emmons
5’10 PG Elkhart Memorial (IN)
Malachi is a long guard with a light frame right now. Likes to make plays off the bounce but will need to come back under control and be more vertical with the pull-up. Has some length and showed his ability to get shots off at the rim despite size. One of the more creative players at the event.
#39 Christopher Royal
6’0 SG Bloomfield (IN)
Chris is a solid guard who lacks strength but has good size and showed a good release on the jumper, just didn’t make many. Picked spots well and didn’t overplay his hand. Thought he did well rebounding the ball from the guard spot and has the vision to get the ball up the floor to his teammate.
#90 Antonio Lisenbee Jr.
6’5 SF Cathedral (IN)
Antonio is a long, lanky wing with tons of athleticism and some explosiveness. Plays very well in the open floor but will need to continue to develop that handle and skill to be able to play more in the half court. Upside is through the roof and is going to hit it sooner rather than later.
#94 Jack Mahoney
6’6 PF Lake Central (IN)
Mahoney is a big post player with good height who could turn his frame into a big weapon for him. Should continue to grow and have some legit size and strength pretty quickly. In short space, he can move pretty well and has some ability to finish in the post with good big man tendencies. Finding some speed and quickness could be huge for him.
#97 Ethan Oakley
6’7 PF North Harrison (IN)
Ethan is a big forward who can stretch the floor. Showed good shooting stroke from distance and has solid mobility along the wing, mostly shooting off the catch. Was beating guy up and down the floor and has the agility to finish tough layups around the rim. Could be a developing big that has a ton of production.
#3 Ryan Gregor
5’7 PG Winamac (IN)
Ryan is a smaller guard with a light frame but plays well in the half court, just more passive and built to set up and distribute rather than score. Will need to add a perimeter jumper into his game more. Handles are good, just lacks strength but could be a really reliable lead guard.
#13 Karson Jenkins
5’9 PG Fort Wayne Snider (IN)
Karson is a smaller guard but knows how to score the ball. Has quickness and is very decisive. Can shoot it pretty well from all over the court while showing a good perimeter and mid-range jumper. While small, he could grow some more and end up as a productive player during the season.
#33 Trevor Divine
5’11 SG Bremen (IN)
Devine is an off-guard who will need a little more height but good frame and strength. Does well handling the ball and rebounds the ball at a really solid rate, able to mix it up down in the low post. Shoots the ball a little low and from the hip but could be pretty good with minimal work.
#53 Matthew Brown
6’1 SF Homeschool
Brown is a big wing with really good size and tons of athelticism. He’s got very good handles and can play well in the open floor but showed some creation in the half court. Shot the ball well from behind the rim and has the ability to put up points using athleticism and skill.
#83 Jackson Falconberry
6’4 PF Madison (IN)
Jackson is an undersized forward right now but looks like he could take another growth spurt. However, he showed the ability to be productive as a low post scorer who can also step out and shoot it from three. Has good mobility and can defend multiple positions already. Good upside if he can grow a bit more.
