PHI Freshman Showcase: Team 2 Breakdown
The last bit of the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase is coming out over the next few days as we finish up our evaluations for the event. Today, we are looking at Team 2 and those players full breakdowns.
#27 Tayshawn Comer
5’10 PG Cathedral (IN)
Comer is a small guard with tons of speed and handles. He’s so creative in the lane and can dribble with purpose to open up shots for his teammates and himself. Has good speed and pace and controls the game so well for his age. So advanced and composed for a freshman.
#8 Chrishon McCray
5’9 PG Avon (IN)
Chrishon is a small guard but plays with a lot of toughness. Likes to be aggressive and get into players on his drives to the rim. Was impressed with his willingness to defend on the ball and his rebounding ability. Small but quick and effective in the lane.
#70 Hayden Cutter
6’3 SF Scottsburg (IN)
Hayden is a tall wing that should continue to grow and will have that ability to stretch the floor. He’s got a solid looking jumper and with some work should be effective. Liked his size and strength, showing the ability to play all over the floor and looked comfortable as a post defender at times.
#91 Luke LaGrange
6’5 SF Leo (IN)
Luke is a tall wing that should stick on the perimeter and has enough size and length to make it really difficult to defend him. He’s got solid handles but could grow them quickly and develop more of a dribble-drive game. Most offense came from perimeter and points in transition.
#100 Thomas Barone
6’10 C Valparaiso (IN)
Thomas is a big post player with legit size and a frame that is going to fill out really well. He showed flashes of his ability with his rebounding and fluid agility. He’s going to have to strengthen up and finish tougher at the rim but he’s got the size and ability to get into position to make plays.
#9 Braden Smith
5’9 PG Westfield (IN)
Braden is a small guard but very crafty and quick. He’s really solid shooting the ball and has some range behind the arc. Lacks strength right now but plays tough and gets into guys on both ends of the floor. As he adds strength, he should become a more efficient scorer in the lane.
#12 Kaden Neukam
5’9 SG Southridge (IN)
Kaden is a small guard but has a good frame and some strength. Jumper looks the part, just couldn’t land many on the day. He’s going to grow some more and could end up looking quite a bit different. Liked his ability to see the floor and find his teammates.
#32 Robert Fitch III
5’11 SG Lewis Cass (IN)
Robert is a small guard who looked like he could grow a bit. He’s got the ability to play inside and was really good in the lane, both in transition and half court. Showed a little creativeness. Posted up well and created mismatches even without having a ton of size. Growth will help quite a bit.
#42 Burke Weldy
6’0 SF Carmel (IN)
Burke is a solid guard with good size and showed some solid defensive ability. Was more physical and impactful on that end of the floor. Was good in the post and showed a solid hook finish with his right hand. If he grows, could be a good wing player that can mix it up inside.
#72 Jacob O’Dell
6’4 SF South Bend St. Joseph (IN)
Jacob is a big wing with really solid mobility and got up and down the floor so well that he was doing most of his damage beating guys down the floor. Liked his frame and thought he was built more for a 3/4 down the road. Flexibile and creative around the rim.
