PH Texas Report: 2020 Shooting Guards Vol. III
Caleb Golden / 6’3″ / SG / Cedar Ridge (Round Rock, TX) / Level: Low-Mid Major
Strengths:
- Athletic two-guard with bounce; finishes above the rim in transition; great open court lob target
- Can stroke the three off the catch; shoots it well from deep
- Attacks the rim off the wing; plays above the rim each time he gets the chance; aggressive slasher and solid scorer
Weaknesses:
- Body needs to continue to add strength
- Is not strong with the ball under pressure
Baylor Hebb / 6’1″ / SG / Colleyville Heritage / Level: Division II-Low Major
Strengths:
- One of the best scorers in the state; efficient shooter from beyond the arc
- Deadeye shooter; his scoring ability creates avenues for him to create for others
- Effortless shot creator with very deep range; a threat to go for 30 plus, especially when he heats up from the outside; finishes crafty under the rim
- Will be on a program’s all-time scorer list if it is the right fit
Weaknesses:
- Size for position; is strictly a shooting guard who is capable of taking on secondary ball handling duties
- Skinny prospect with a thin under developed frame; looks very young on the basketball court; needs to add strength; not physical
- Is easily knocked off balance when absorbing contact
- Takes angles defensively, but still needs to improve guarding on the ball
Jake Milkereit / 6’4″ / SG / Bishop Lynch (Dallas, TX) / Level: Low-Mid Major
Strengths:
- A knock down spot up shooter; true kick out threat
- Gets off the floor really well in transition
- Does a great job of moving without the ball to find the best opportunities to catch and shoot in the half court setting
- Reminds me of a poor man’s Matthew McQuaid
Weaknesses:
- Needs to improve ball handling skills
- Lacks an in-between game; needs to look to attack the basket more in the half court set
