Pangos: National 2021 Evals Pt 1
Over the weekend PrepHoops took in the Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp. The event featured many of the top prospects in the Midwest in the freshman and sophomore classes. Here we breakdown the players in attendance! This is our National 2021 Evaluations Part 1!
SF Patrick Baldwin Jr (Sussex Hamilton, WI)
To be honest they could have given Baldwin the camp MVP the moment he signed up. Then he went out and earned the award which he received at the end of the weekend. This 6’9” small forward is a premier marksman with the way he shoots it from deep. Drills threes both off the catch and pulling up in transition. His overall feel for the game continues to improve. That was shown through in the way he passed, directed his teammates, and had a feel for where the ball was coming off the rim. Just such an advanced skill set and IQ at a young age. Scored anyway he wanted. Man among boys and the scary part is this baby faced sophomore has so much room to grow physically and as a player.
PG Tyrese Hunter (St. Catherine’s, WI)
This 5’11” point guard is already well known in Wisconsin as our Evan Flood has him at #6 in the 2021 rankings. Impressive young guard as he pushed the tempo in the open floor. Burst with the rock in his hands. Also more than capable as a shooter connecting on a semi regular basis from beyond the arc particularly on the wings.
SG Jakobe Thompson (Case, WI)
Thompson stands at 6’0” with an all-out attacking style of play! He loves getting to the rim with his quickness and ball handling. A lot of upside as a scorer. If he can improve as a passer watch out!
SG Calvin Schmeling (University School, WI)
The two guard is listed at 6’4” and brings an excellent pull up mid-range game to the table. Good athlete that also has the ability to post up smaller defenders which he did on a few occasions including sealing off his man in the high/low.
PG Jordan Strohl (Kaukauna, WI)
Tiny point guard at 5’8” that is a slick passer especially in the open floor. Hits open shots when given the chance.
PF JR Konieczny (St. Joseph, IN)
This 6’6” face up four man stood out both days of the event. Quality athlete that has mobility. What I liked most about his game was he was efficient with his touches. Didn’t try to do things he couldn’t or over think the game. Let things come to him. Solid shooter and finished with quickness in the paint.
SF Chrishawn Christmas (Gary Westside, IN)
Christmas brought a ton of athleticism to the table on the wing. This 6’4” Indiana native was so explosive off the bounce. Big time slasher and playing above the rim in transition. He also showed he can shoot it too knocking down an array of mid-range jumpers and a couple threes.
SG Keon Thompson (Merrillville, IN)
Thompson is a scoring two guard that got to the rim. Strong takes to the hoop that he converted a good amount of the time.
C Jason Brower (Wayland Union, MI)
Post that stands at 6’8” is an excellent area rebounder. Good strength. Limited athletically.
C Rocco Muratori (West Lafayette, IN)
This 6’11” center is HUGE! He seals very well receiving the basketball on the block. Multiple times got buckets by just using positioning. Big target to throw the ball.
F Landon Regnerus (Grandville, MI)
Regnerus is a high motor combo forward that stands at 6’5”. Nice size and was adequate crashing the glass during the camp.
SG Kobe Bufkin (Grand Rapids Christian, MI)
This 6’3” shooting guard from Michigan was one of those prospects that every time you looked up #158 made another play. This left handed wing has quality size playing bigger than his listed height in the program. Smooth pull up jump shot and has long strides in transition covering a lot of ground. Silky scorer is one to watch!
PG Bennie Crenshaw (Kettering, MI)
Crenshaw is a lead guard with strength. Made several quick passes that were converted for assists. Mid-range shot was solid.
SG Tayzhean Archuleta (Harrison, CO)
The 6’3” two guard out of Colorado has good length on the perimeter. Couple nice passes he made to big men. Showed flashes to be versatile wing.
SF Terrance Donta Dawson (Harrison, CO)
Dawson stands at 6’3” and was best getting on the offensive glass for put backs. At times he was a bit wild around the hoop.
SG Jelani Willis (First Assembly Christian School, TN)
The 6’2” combo guard got to the line where he was a good shooter. Tough rebounder especially from his guard spot.
