Scout’s Take: Evan Mccarthy of Arlington Grace Prep is one of the best shooters in the state. The 5’10” point guard has good handles, but is also efficient playing off the ball.
The Interview
Dre: How long have you been playing basketball?
Evan: I’ve been playing since I was 4 years old.
Dre: Who did you play AAU with this past summer and how was it?
Evan: Lone star elite and it was a solid experience playing some of the top competition in the nation.
Dre: Who is Evan on and off the court?
Evan: I am a confident person on and off the court and I am a hard worker. I stay in the gym working on my strengths and weaknesses.
Dre: What made you decide to transfer to Grace Prep for your senior year?
Evan: Coach Alfred is a great coach and I wanted to learn from him. I also wanted to have a chance to win a state championship.
Dre: How many shots do you try to put up a day?
Evan: I try to get up to at least 300 shots a day.
Dre: What are some of the things in your game you’ve been focusing to improve for the season?
Evan: I’ve been working on my lateral quickness to be able to stay in front quick guards as well being able to change directions faster.
Dre: What is your goals for yourself and teammates this year?
Evan: My goal for this year is to win a state championship with my teammates.
