(#32) Jayden Ballard, 6’2” W, Massillon Washington
The indication is that Ballard is going to be a Power 5 football recruit. His focus on the gridiron is likely why he slipped through the cracks during the grassroots season. But the wide receiver/wing guard combo prospect is an elite athlete who can defend and finish with explosion. His athleticism is such that he’d warrant D-I attention if he ever focused on hoops (which likely won’t happen), hence the no. 32 slotting.
(#42) Nate Johnson, 6’1” PG, Lakota East
We don’t know a ton about Johnson other than he’s a good athlete with defensive ability who received a very early Fairmont State offer last month. We fully trust FSU’s evaluation ability because of their recent success at the D-II level. Also, Johnson logged minutes on a solid Lakota East team as a freshman. He is currently in the middle of our D-II tier with the possibility of shooting way up or down once we get a proper evaluation on him over the next year.
(#72) Jarius Jones, 6’3” G/W, Gahanna
Jones is a good athlete with promise as a wing scorer and defender. We’re not sure he will be able to develop at the varsity level this season considering the variety of wing talent at Gahanna that might be ahead of him. Unless he can defend up a position, it might be hard for him to breakout until his 16U season.
(#102) Tae’von Bush, 6’3” W, Westerville Central
Bush, like Jones, impressed at the Prep Hoops Top 250 with his athleticism. He has streaky scoring ability and questionable shot selection. However, Bush’s jumper has some promise and he’s definitely quick and long enough to get into the lane and score. Still very raw, however.
(#105) Nolan Burney, 6’5” F, Carlisle
Burney has good size for a kid that score from the perimeter as a shooter or inside with baby hooks and put-backs. Mobility is the concern at the moment, but you have to give big kids a chance to grow into their body. Burney will likely have the opportunity to play a lot for Carlisle this winter, which will provide more insight into his value as a recruit.
