St. Cloud Cathedral point guard Jackson Jangula has made his college decision. After a strong year handling the ball for a state tournament team and helping Comets K to a wonderful 17u year Jackson has made up his mind.
“No more visits for me, I’ve decided where I’m going to go, I just haven’t made it official yet. Concordia Moorhead. Roll Cobbs!”
That’s the statement made by Jackson Jangula to NHR last night. Jackson will be joining Comets K teammate Drew Gustafson at Concordia-Moorhead plus the Cobbers continue to recruit more of the Comets K squad so Jackson and Drew could be joined by others!
That’s the future. The next focus is on the 2018-19 season. St. Cloud Cathedral an afterthought because Michael Schaefer and Mitchell Plombon are in the NSIC now? No way. When the Breakdown Book is shipped to homes next week and when the NHR preseason rankings come out the day after Halloween, Cathedral will be a top ten team in Class AA.
“I’m looking forward to the new style of play that we are going to have to do, more run and gun type which is right up my alley, Jangula said.
“I’m excited to see what we can do as a team without our 6-foot-6 big guys. Our younger kids will have to step up this year and impact the game. If we do what we are told to do we will do just fine.”
Between Nick Schaefer and Jackson Jangula the Crusaders have the veterans to get back to state for the third straight year. They will be the 6AA favorite but Melrose is right there with Cathedral as a top five squad plus watch Maple Lake, Pine City, Eden Valley-Watkins, Kimball Area, and others.
It wasn’t that long ago that Cathedral was the team that couldn’t win the big one. That changed two years ago when Jangula was a sophomore PG.
“Beating the unbeaten Melrose Dutchman two years ago in the section final game to go to state is something I will never forget,” Jackson said.
