Intro: Connor McCance (2020)
Oswego 2020 center Connor McCance is a big man with potential at 6’8”. We liked what he brought to the table during July for Breakaway 16U and at their fall workout he continued that development. His jumper from mid-range has gotten much better mechanically and he saw that translate into more makes. Like his size and strength. Rebounds well in traffic. Physical player down low with a soft touch.
He discussed his spring and summer on the travel team circuit.
“It went really well. I started noticing strengths in my game and developing new moves. I tried working on a jump shot. Shooting one or two jump shots a game and got real good at it.”
How did his jump shot improve so much?
“Coach Greg (Ktistou) started mentioning if I have more jump in my shot I will be able to get more shots off.”
McCance broke down his game.
“I like to be in the post a lot more. If someone is driving l like to go to the corner for a jump shot. Get on the offensive and defensive boards and protecting the rim.”
He chatted with us about his upcoming high school season at Oswego.
“I am really excited. We had a good summer. We played the state champions and only lost by five in a good game. I am pretty sure we will be much better than last year.”
