IAC Preview: 2019 Sleepers
In preparation for the upcoming season, we will begin releasing preview content covering various teams and leagues around the DMV. For this series, we’re taking a look at a few seniors we believe continue to be slept on. This edition covers the IAC Conference.
CHRISTIAN DEPOLLAR | 6’5 SF | ST. STEPHENS & ST. AGNES
One of the most prolific shooters in the conference, Christian Depollar has proven throughout his high school career that he can stretch the floor and fill it up in a hurry. Depollar, a smooth lefty who is reportedly being recruited by Air Force, will without question be able to help a college program as a shooter with size.
DEJEAN DESIRE | 6’6 SF | GEORGETOWN PREP
Dejean Desire has been the best on-ball defender on his team for three years now. The x-factor in last year’s IAC Championship, Desire is a hard worker on and off the court who will be given the chance to showcase his improved offensive skill set this season.
KOLIN LEWIS | 6’2 PG | BULLIS
Kolin Lewis had a very good summer, where he stood out both with his AAU and high school team as a result of his efficient play and stingy perimeter defense. While we recently learned that Lewis will be missing time this season due to injury, there is no doubt that he will recover and help a college program down the road.
COLE MATTHIESEN | 6’5 PF | ST. ALBANS
Cole Matthiesen is a two-sport standout at St. Albans, where he is being recruited for football as well. At 6-foot-5, Matthiesen is a versatile forward who can do a bit of everything. His shooting is still a work in progress, but the strengths he demonstrates in many other aspects helps compensate for it.
ASA SHANNON | 6’5 SF | EPISCOPAL
Asa Shannon generated some buzz after a strong performance at the DMVElite 80, but he’s been a good player for a while now. Shannon, who is the glue guy for what we expect to be a very solid team at EHS this year, is a no-brainer division one prospect who gets it done off the court as well.
