GASO: Houston HS Fall Shootout
I had the privilege to watch some of GREATER HOUSTON top prospects on their High School teams. The GASO Houston HS Shootout #GASOFallClassic. I know that every team wasn’t fully equipped with there full roster. This was a great opportunity for players to show there school coaches what they can offer to the team. It’s a chance to start the season off with more playing time. Also gives prospects an opportunity to gain some attention. I spent my entire day at Pasadena Memorial High School, and these are the players who stood out.
Collin Warren 6’3″ SG 2019 Fort Bend Elkins (Missouri City,TX).
Looked good and is a transfer student. Played really well, and was able to score at all 3 levels. Had a couple of dunks and was knocking down the long ball at a high percentage. It will be exciting to see how he plays with Donovan Stretch Williams. Looking forward to seeing them play together this season. Collin will be a steal for any D1 program, has the tools to be really good at the next level.
Nico Hardin 6’7 PF 2019 Spring Woods (Houston,TX).
Played solid around the basket. Has nice soft touch passes for a big. Had a nice two handed throw down on defender. Nico ran the floor well and boxed out on every possession. He will be a great addition to a D3/NAIA school. Could have a breakout season.
Marcus Williams 6’2 CG 2020 Dickinson (Dickinson,TX).
Shot the ball well from deep. Got to the lane and finished with great body control. Was very active on defense. Marcus is a great addition to Dickinson who already has a good back court. Marcus is a D1 mid-major/low-major combo guard.
Deuce Guidry 5’8 PG 2020 Dickinson (Dickinson,TX).
Very quick point guard. Has an explosive first step. He reads his defender very well. Super active on defense showed off his defensive IQ. With his frame and quickness he can be a solid D1 mid-major/low-major point.
Tramon Mark 6’4 PG 2020 Dickinson (Dickinson,TX).
Scored the ball from all 3 levels at a very high rate. He plays above the rim. Shifting defenders and taking them off the dribble every time. Even shot at very high rate on contested shots. Tramon was able to score at will regardless who was guarding him. He is a D1 high-major/mid-major guard.
Jacobi Harris 5’10 PG 2021 Fort Bend Elkins (Missouri City,TX).
Played very solid and showed off his ability to control the tempo of the game. Strong frame for a 5’10 point guard. He also played great on ball defense giving his opponents fits. Jacobi will learn a great deal from the two senior leaders on his team. Has the potential to be a solid fit for a D1 low-major/D2 school.
Dylan Dawson 6’2 SG 2020 Atascocita (Humble,TX).
Very headsy player and great scorer. Plays to his defenders weakness no matter who is guarding him. Attacked the basket really well and finished. Defensively he was solid and played the passing lanes well. Dylan is D1 player who has great potential.
Jerrell Colbert 6’9 F 2021 Sam Rayburn (Pasadena,TX).
Played very well, used his long and athletic arms to anchor him defensively. Finished at a high rate around the rim. Runs the floor like a gazelle and takes away fast break opportunities for the opposing team. Each time I see him his defensive timing gets better each time. Jerrell now attends Texas Christian High School. He is a D1 high-major prospect.
Keon Edwards 6’6 WG 2021 Sam Rayburn (Pasadena,TX).
Long wing-guard that sees the floor very well. Ran the floor very well filling in the correct lanes each time. Was picking apart the defense with tight-tough passes. He also finished well in the paint when driving to the rim. Keon is a D1 hig-major prospect.
Devon McCain 6’4 WG 2019 Silsbee (Silsbee,TX).
Played very aggressively on both sides of the ball. He is anchored by his defense as he guarded the 1-4 position. Was a menace against Will Baker 7’0 stretch-four. Attacked the basket well and finished at a very high rate through contact. Has a very strong body build which he uses to his advantage. Devon has multiple D1 offers. He will make his decision in Mid November.
Jordyn Adams 6’4 SG 2019 Silsbee (Silsbee,TX).
Showed off his shooting ability with the defender in his face from long range. He played solid on the defensive side of the ball. Showed that he could guard in the paint and spaced himself well to close out quickly on the perimeter. He was able to score at all 3 levels of the floor. Jordyn has committed to Austin Peay University.
Braelon Bush 5’8 PG 2020 Silsbee (Silsbee,TX).
Shot the ball extremely well from deep. Shot at a high rate from 23 feet out. Very quick and is a pest on defense. He is smart with the ball in his hands. Braelon is a D1 mid-major/low-major prospect.
Steve Fontenette 6’4 F 2019 Katy (Katy,TX).
Played very solid and was doing work in the post. Had some good takes from the wing also. He was very active on both ends of the floor. Steve will be the leader and glue guy for his team. His game continues to improve, he is a D3/NAIA player.
Javonne Lowery 6’4 WG 2019 Pearland (Pearland,TX).
Played above the rim. Shot the ball well from mid-range with quick off the dribble pull-ups. Attacked the basket very aggressively. He utilized his speed throughout the game from start till finish. Plays with a high motor. He also played well on the defensive side of the ball. Javonne has committed to University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
