Deondre Bonaparte: An Interview
The Let’s Get Ready Basketball Camp saw a lot of talent. But the show was stolen by skilled combo guard Deondre Bonaparte. He showed increased physical strength, and new how to use it. Bonaparte scored off the dribble drive and from behind the arc. What may have been the most impressive thing about him over the weekend was his leadership ability. Bonaparte took control of the camp and set a precedent for others. The class of 2019 star continues to show Division 2 talent and could develop into a Division 1 recruit as the season plays on. We caught up to Deondre Bonaparte to discuss his MOP performance at the Let’s Get Ready Basketball Camp as well as his coming season and recruitment.

What do you feel you did best at the Let’s Get Ready Basketball Camp?
Deondre Bonaparte:
The best thing I did at the camp was be a leader.

What set you apart from the competition?
Deondre Bonaparte:
What set me apart from the competition was I had the instinct of being a BEAST and wasn’t leaving without the MOP Award.

What was your favorite part of the Let’s Get Ready Basketball Camp?
Deondre Bonaparte:
My favorite part of the camp was the competition.

Why would you tell other kids to register for this event?
Deondre Bonaparte:
It’s a great learning experience to work on your game before the season.

What aspect of your game are you working on as season approaches?
Deondre Bonaparte:
The aspects of my game I’m working on is ball handling, combo moves, and pull up jumpers.

What are your goals this season?
Deondre Bonaparte:
My goals this season are to win districts and regionals, and get to the Breslin.

If you could tell a college coach one thing they would get from bringing you in as a player, what would it be?
Deondre Bonaparte:
Being a hard worker.

Favorite basketball memory so far is dominating.
